Autumn in the mountain is associated with bright colors, which give us a great dose of optimism in the soul. The excursions during this period of the year can be made even more colorful by choosing places such as the colored lakes of Rudawy Janowickie. These are four small mountain ponds located at the foot of Wienka Kopa (871 m above sea level), whose waters were colored by chemical compounds here. The yellow lakes, purple, blue and green, surrounded by interesting rocks and magnificent trees, attract tourists at any time of the year, but autumn seems particularly attractive.
The route in the Wieściszowice parking lot, through the colorful lakes towards Wieka Kopa and the back is about 6.5 km and will be an excellent option for a short walk in the family, combined with a colorful photographic session

If we were to call the most original of all Polish mountain huts, we would probably choose the building at the top of Wielki Lubot in Beskid Wyspowy. It is a building with a highly disproportionate base, with a first first wooden floor and an inclined roof, characteristic of the mountains in the mountain style. For many, this recalls the chalet of Babei Yaga. In autumn, this fairy tale acquires an extra magic. It’s all due to the trees around. The trees of carpathy beech trees that grow in the upper part of the hill shine in bright colors, creating a truly fairytale decorative.
Four hiking routes lead to Luboț Wielki. If you are looking for a short but attractive mountain ring, we recommend a journey from Rabka-Zdrój Zaryte on the yellow route through Borkowskiego (this section passes through a mountain glacier and is not recommended to beginners). To avoid repeating the route, you can go down on the blue path. This variant is only 7 km long, so it’s an interesting option if you have little time available.
Map n. 3: Hiking idea – A Bartne cycle that leads to Kornuty’s reserve
Where to go if your priority is to draw your soul and take a break from the city’s agitation? A good idea would be to hike in Beskid Niskim.
The area is outside the strokes, therefore, regardless of the season, is not influenced by the multitude of tourists. Churches of wood, cemeteries that commemorate the battles of the First World War or the remains of the old settlements of Lemko, who are now confused with nature.
In these mountains, you have the impression that time passes much slower. To hear their extraordinary atmosphere, it is better to go to the area around the village of Bartne – a quiet village, with a beautiful church of Santi Cosma and Damian and a legendary shepherd hut. In the aforementioned PTTK cabin, the famous Lemko gnocchi gnocchi are served and there are original photographic sessions in front.
Simple Bartne Walk is a good way to recharge the batteries. An excursion to the paths around, which are in autumn, will allow you to calm you down. For this period of the year, we recommend a 12 km cycle that leads along the outskirts of the Maggurski National Park at the Kornuty Reserve, where there are special residues. The stone stone that comes out of the ground recalls the horns of the devil, which have also given birth to many colorful legends. The rock blocks covered with muscles seem very mysterious and the yellow roof trees neighborhood adds the charm of the place.
Map n. 4: The Polish mountains in all their splendor – One of the variants of the path to Czerwone Wierchy with the beginning and arrival in Kirach. (Source: Mapy.cz. /
If we were to list the most beautiful paths in Poland, without dividing the seasons, this path would occupy one of the first places. The path that crosses the WierCy Czerwone mountain range is a classic that every lover who respects the highest mountains in Poland must cross. Why is it worth making such a trip to the autumn? The answer to this question is hidden in the name used to describe the four peaks worthy of two thousand meters: Ciemniak (2096 m), Krzesanica (2122 m), Małołączniak (2096 m) and Kopa Kondraka (2005 m).
Although these hills attracted visitors throughout the year with their extensive views, they are the most attractive when the Alpine plant called Skucina, which grows on the slopes, starts to shine in special colors – from bright red to pleasant brown. The route can be planned in different ways. Due to the shorter autumn days, we suggest an attractive loop not too long (17 km) with the beginning and arrival in Kirach.
Map n. 5: Hiking courses in Poland – the łopuszna cycle, which will lead us to Tartbacz and to some picturesque mountain pastures. (Source: Mapy.cz. /
Some say that the tatra mountains are better viewed from afar. The picturesque meadows in the built mountains are the perfect observation point to admire the highest mountains in Poland. During this period of the year, the peaks of the monumental rocks are often covered by the first snow, which makes them even more deserving. The Nowotarska valley, which separates the two chains, also seems interesting, shining in the colors of autumn.
Four hiking routes lead to Tartbacz, so you can develop different travel variations. We suggest your łopuszna cycle. The route above crosses several picturesque mountain pastures so that you can walk through rude herbs and have fun with beautiful views.
It is worth starting soon on the route to see how the morning fog envelops the landscape or dividing the journey into two days, reserving a night accommodation in a mountain pension near the highest peak of the built mountains.
Map n. 6: Ideas for a short journey, through Pietniny – in the form of a Krościenko cycle on Dunajc. (Source: Mapy.cz. /
The white limestone rocks are the piece of resistance of the P Chininy mountains – called by a «small tatra». From Picniny’s observation points, you can see the imposing tatra mountains, as well as the narrow and picturesque thread of the fast meanders of the Dunajc river. There are also the ruins of the Pietniny castle, wrapped in legend.
Tourists who visit this small mountain range in autumn can enjoy another attraction: a fantastic color festival, which lasts when the mountain tracks shine in fantastic and red.
The advantage of the Pietniny mountains is their accessibility. Although there are chains and rocks – we will also have the opportunity to travel a path whose name includes the word «Peruci» – the difficulty scale is certainly smaller than in the case of excursions in the tatra mountains. We can easily draw a half -day route here, suitable for less advanced excursions.
Map n. 7: the Polish mountains in the autumn – The path from Kalnica through Połonina Wetliitska to Brzegi Górne. (Source: Mapy.cz. /
To admire Bieszczady in all their splendor, it is better to come to October. Then a fantastic color show awaits us. Walking on yellowish meadows, we can look down the infinite forests, shining in fantastic shades of red, orange, yellow and green. Often this composition is completed by the October sun that shines in the horizon and by the picturesque fog that envelops the valleys.
One of the most picturesque routes of Bieszczady leads through Połonina Wetliitska. A walk along the open ridge guarantees unforgettable views and a further attraction will be to visit the highest pension of the Bieszczady-keatka Puhatka (1228 m above the sea). A modern unit, which in 2022 replaced the iconic but very modest, brick.
Map n. 8: The most beautiful routes in Poland – a wolosaty cycle through Tarica, Halicz and Rozsypaniec. (Source: Mapy.cz. /
This is a true classic Bieszczady, during which we will admire landscapes that are among the most beautiful in the Polish mountains. The first section of the route crosses a beech forest, which seems fascinating in its autumn colors. However, real attractions are waiting for us after reaching the ridge, from which, as in the palm, we can see the yellowed pastures that rise above the colored forests.
For tourists who cross this route, the number one destination is Tarnica – the highest peak from our part of the Bieszczady mountains and the peak you have to climb if you dream of conquering the crown of the mountains of Poland. From here you can see the path in the curve that leads through Halicz and Rozsypaniec. The unlimited nature and the perspectives that change with every kilometer give you the power you need to overcome the rather long cycle, 19 -kilometers. It is one of the few classic routes in the Bieszczady mountains that starts and ends in the same place, which makes it easier for tour organizers to manage logistics.
